Hello, Fellow Human

I’m Lua,

and I am here to create more connection in this world.

My approach to massage is grounding and rooted in the science of nervous system regulation. I practise in a slow, nurturing way that allows you to savour each sensation, and allows me to really notice your body’s responses to my touch so that I can be responsive to your needs. This is facilitated by a solid foundation in anatomical knowledge and an insatiable curiosity for learning new techniques which are incorporated to help you to access a state of ease and recovery.

When we take the time to slow down and be present, we make space to make better decisions, we have more time to marvel at the world around us, and it can feel easier to look after ourselves in a meaningful way. Our modern understanding of what it is to be human confirms that the mind and body cannot be separated, and that our mental/emotional and physical states are intrinsically linked. Holistic massage is uniquely therapeutic in that it considers all of these factors, and it has had an inmeasurable impact on my life by helping me to recover from a period of dysregulated eating and gain space from mental tendencies of perfectionism and anxiety. This is why I’m dedicating my time to supporting the wellbeing of others through massage, which feels ever more important in our interesting yet isolating ‘information age’.

Ultimately, I am here because I like you and firmly believe that you deserve to be cared for and supported in life. Although we easily forget this amidst our day-to-day ‘doings’, we are each a part of something indescribably complex and wonderful (life on Earth). My role here is to remind your whole self what it feels like to be connected; Connected to yourself, to others, and to everything. I hope that you will join me in sharing this experience.

Outside of massage & time spent with friends and family, I love to immerse myself in nature - hiking, camping & wild swimming. I am also a musician and much of my time is spent delighting in exploring music, playing shows and festivals.

Holistic Massage Therapist in Bristol City Center Park Street offering relaxing massage for recovery from chronic stress and associated tension and pain

Training & Qualifications

I am a fully qualified Massage Therapist accredited by the Massage Training Institute & have completed a comprehensive Level 4 training in Holistic Massage Therapy at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork. This included a plethora of practical skills along with the theory of anatomy & physiology. That’s just where it began though, as I am insatiably curious and constinually developing my practise.

Since qualifying, I have taken additional training towards becoming a trauma-informed practitioner. I work with polyvagal theory in mind, providing massage aimed at nervous system regulation because it is fundamental for the effective release of muscle tension and for supporting physical & emotional wellbeing. Knowing what I’m bringing to the table is cruical for co-regulation, and I commit to cultivating presence so that I can give attentive massage with a daily meditation, yoga and qigong practise. In terms of practical skills, this year I will be training in Lomi Lomi & Indian Head Massage, and in the future I would like to train in myofascial release & neuroaffective touch to support people through processing Trauma.

Grounded in science, guided by the nervous system.

I hold a First Class Master of Science in Biology. My scientific background informs how I think about rest, recovery, and the body’s capacity to adapt and heal.

During my studies, I experienced first-hand what it can feel like to do a lot and rest very little. Science consistently shows that regular rest and breaks improve our ability to think creatively, consolidate learning, and sustain effort over time. Yet it can be hard to schedule this time of productive rest mid-activity.

Massage offers a supportive way of creating space for that kind of rest.

Testimonials

  • "...I felt like it lifted a weight from me and found myself throughly relaxed and a lightness in my body..."

    - Shane Iles

  • "...Lua very easily makes me feel comfortable, relaxed and safe. They genuinely care about my body and health, and ask all the right questions to find where my pain points are, and then plan an massagae tailored for me. Can't state enough how impactful that is compared to some 'factory' massages I used to get..."

    - Phill Stone

  • “I really value Lua’s massages. I had a tight neck and shoulders from stress caring for my elderly mum and niggly lower back/ glutes from running training…I feel much more balanced, integrated and whole again. Thank you Lua 🧡🙏 “
