Massage; the antidote to modern life
Slow down and experience yourself.-
A tailored 60/90 minute massage designed around your physical, mental and emotional needs on the day. Elements of deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Indian head massage, myofascial work, MET, holds, stretches, breathwork, nervous system regulation techniques and mobilisations combine to relieve mental and physical stress.
-
A luxurious 90 minute massage of long, flowing strokes that span the entire length of the body, giving you a sense of your complete self and allowing you to drop into total relaxation. Unlike holistic massage, Lomilomi uses minimal draping - a loin-cloth is used to cover the intimate area, and the rest of the body is fully anointed with coconut oil and massaged from shoulder to foot.
-
A delicious upper-body massage drawing from Ayurvedic traditions which tends to the hands, arms, shoulders, neck, head & face. IHM is received whilst sitting in a regular chair and fully clothed. Because tension is controlled by the mind, IHM is a great way to reach total body relaxation in a simpler, more accessible way.
I also offer IHM as a mobile service, get in touch for availability & enquiries
Hi, I’m Lua.
I provide grounding, attentive massage centered around the concept of nervous system co-regulation and the understanding that tension is a mental and physical process, meaning that your mind must feel safe and at ease in order for your body to fully ‘let go’.
There’s a beauty in the way touch, the first sense we develop in the womb, can help us recover the parts of us that consistent stress chips away at. We are evolved for this, and even have specific receptors in our skin that can distinguish the sensation of being stroked from other tactile sensations. Isn’t that wonderful?
Nurturing touch helps us to re-connect with ourselves, it returns us to a place where we have agency over our lives and can feel a sense of comfort and safety. This helps us to connect with others, and gives us more space to move through the world with presence and really live our life. I want to live in a world where you feel comfortable in your body, as limber as possible, and capable of following your interests with curiosity. It’s a microcosm of a world where we all live more sustainably and look out for each-other.
I feel that this work is now more important than ever, as our fast-paced, individualistic modern life makes us lose sight of the bliss that can arise just from existing, and for some moments not needing, or getting, or doing.
I am a fully qualified Holistic Massage Therapist registered with MTI and CNHC, and am also trained in Lomi lomi (Traditional Hawaiian Massage) and Indian Head Massage. I am an LGBTQI+ welcoming and trauma-informed practitioner.
Part of feeling at ease is choosing a practitioner that suits you, so please do get in touch at luarios@mail.com if you you have any questions.
“...Lua very easily makes me feel comfortable, relaxed and safe...Can’t state enough how impactful that is compared to some ‘factory’ massages I used to get...”
“...“I really value Lua’s massages. I had a tight neck and shoulders from stress caring for my elderly mum and niggly lower back/ glutes from running training…I feel much more balanced, integrated and whole again. Thank you Lua 🧡🙏 “t...”
“...I felt like it lifted a weight from me and found myself throughly relaxed and a lightness in my body...”
It can be hard to show up as we’d like to in relation to others when we’re pouring from an empty cup. I work with a dual focus on easing tension & nervous system-regulation to ground and reconnect you, so that you can regain the mental, emotional and physical energy to access your creative & playful side, and support the people you love (including yourself!).
Feel free to get in touch at luarios@mail.com with any questions, or to arrange a chat where we can explore how massage can benefit you.
